Obit of LaVerne E. (Drozd) Wold

LaVerne E. Wold Chenoa- LaVerne E. Wold, 82, of Chenoa, formerly of Chatsworth, IL, passed away at 1:14 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Chenoa, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth. According to her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community. LaVerne was born February 12, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of John and Peggy Ann (Jensen) Drozd. She married Donald Robert Wold on February 20, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. They were married for nearly fifty years, Donald passed away in June of 2003. She is survived by her children: Donna (Randy) Burke of Chatsworth, IL, Vernon (Connie) Wold of Naperville, IL, Kevin Wold of Arlington, TX, and Jeffrey (Sally) Wold of Channahon, IL; ten grandchildren; Fourteen great grandchildren; and one sister: Barbara Sypien of Momence, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John and Lawrence Drozd; her husband; and one granddaughter: Dawn Baertschi. LaVerne worked for Jewel foods for thirty years starting in Romeoville and retiring from the Plainfield location. Upon retirement, she moved to Arkansas and returning ten years ago to be closer to family in Chatsworth. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and gardening. She was a loving mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.
