Obit of Shirley (Bell) Durham

Shirley E. Durham, 74, of Chatsworth, IL passed away at 5:30 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Piper City Rehab and Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth with Pastor Ed Bunt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury, IL. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Walter Clemons American Legion in Chatsworth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Cancer Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice. Shirley was born October 28, 1944 in Zalma, Missouri a daughter of John B. and Mary A. (Hedrick) Bell. She married Johnnie Buford Durham on September 30, 1966 in Fairbury, IL. He passed away on June 12, 2002. She is survived by her children: LaJeana Durham of Tennessee, Jeanetta (Joe) Galloway of Chatsworth, IL, Debbie Durham of Carbondale, IL, Georgia Durham of Chatsworth, IL, and Duane Durham of Chatsworth, IL; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and her four brothers: Jim Bell of Normal, IL and Darrell (Tanya) Bell of Chatsworth, IL, Larry (Cindy) Bell of Forrest, IL, and Jerry (Linda) Bell of Advance, MO; her two sisters: Sue (Larry)Kurtenbach and Glenda Faye (John) Baker both of Chatsworth, IL; She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Verna Humphrey, Ruth Cantrell, Peggy Higgins and Brenda Bell; and three brothers; Gene, Ivan, and Gary Bell. Shirley was educated in Missouri. She was a stay-at-home mom raising her children. Shirley loved to play cards and was a lifelong Cardinal fan. She was an animal lover and enjoyed listening to county music and Elvis Presley. Shirley liked going to listen to her husband, Johnnie play in the band. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Obit of Douglas VanGene Bell

Douglas VanGene Bell, 55, of Chatsworth, IL passed away at his home in the country in Piper City, IL. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth. According to the family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Doug was born February 15, 1963 in Fairbury, IL the son of Ivan and Beulah (Houser) Bell. He married Tammy Davis in May 2002 in Forrest, IL. He is survived by his children Mindy Sue (Justin) Meyer and Ivana (Cristian) Rivera both of Chatsworth, IL; his grandchildren: Adelina and Mireya Rivera; his siblings: Dan Bell and Shelby Bell. Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister: Connie Emberton. Doug was educated in the Chatsworth schools graduating from Chatsworth High School. He was a truck driver his whole life. He enjoyed doing paint and body work on cars, crafting, and dancing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Obit of Gail F. (Hahn) Hutchcraft

Not Chatsworth but wanted to recognize this person. So sad to lose a fellow genealogist.

GIBSON CITY — Gail F. Hutchcraft, 77, of Gibson City died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 3, 2018) at Heritage Health, Gibson City. Her graveside service will be at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City, with Pastor Paul Thomason officiating. Family and friends will then gather at Gibson City Bible Church for lunch and fellowship, followed by an open house at her home. Gail was born Nov. 7, 1940, in Chicago, a daughter of William F. and Lorene (Stroh) Hahn. She married Robert L. Hutchcraft on Nov. 9, 1958, in Gibson City. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2010. Surviving are her daughter, JoAnne Hutchcraft of Gibson City; grandchildren, Jody Lyn Cline of Peoria and Jordan Carl Hutchcraft Adams of West Lafayette, Ind.; and three great-grandchildren, Rachel L. Thomas of Gibson City, Isaac A. Sampson of Champaign and Joseph McCarty of Scobey, Mont. She was preceded in death by her son, Troy, and sister, Carol Jean Davis. Gail was a bookkeeper for many years at Hager Lumber in Gibson City and for her husband’s MATCO business. Gail and her husband were avid genealogy researchers. They worked together to help families from all over find their ancestors. They visited cemeteries, libraries and courthouses throughout the state to gather information, which she compiled into an extensive database.
