Carl E. Clubb, 79, of Chatsworth, IL. died Monday February 20, 2017 at 11:40AM at Piper City Rehab and Living Center, Piper City, IL. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 10:00AM at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery, Chatsworth, IL. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-800PM at the funeral home. Memorials in Carl’s name may be left to the activity fund at Piper City Rehab and Living Center. Carl was born on September 14, 1937 in Carbondale, IL., a son of Charles E. and Leola (Davis) Clubb. He married Mary Lou Mosier on October 12, 1957 in Essex, IL. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2016. Survivors include: three sons: Carl (Theresa) Clubb of Onarga, IL., David (Lori) Clubb of Coal City, IL. and Roger (Ashley) Clubb of Chatsworth, IL.; four daughters: Kathleen (Dave) Wood of Dwight, IL., Susan Loveall of Chatsworth, IL., Debbie (Al) Swiggett of Coal City, IL. and Cindy (Paul) Heern of Hollywood, MD. Seventeen grandchildren: Chuckie Lee, Jazmin, Haleigh, Cullen, Kyle, Shelby, Jacob, Jeremy, Brandon, Nick, Cody, Stephanie, Stephen, Ben,Tim, Matthew and Kayla ; nine great grandchildren: Carl, Marijah, Alonzo, Zach, Damian, Mason, Dakota, Gavin and Chase; two brothers: Donald Clubb of Carbondale, IL. and John Clubb of Forrest, IL.; two special friends: Alice Loveall and Chris Nelson. Carl was preceded in death by: his identical twin brother: Charles; two sisters: Cleta and Bonnie, and twins Larry Ray and Mary Fay. Carl was educated in Carbondale Schools. He was a machine repairman for Caterpillar in the Aurora, IL. plant for thirty years.

Harvey and his family were well know to many people of Chatsworth:

Harvey J. Hardesty Jr., 79, Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac and formerly of Forrest, died at 7:20 pm Friday, February 24, 2017 at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Twp. Cemetery, Forrest. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am Tuesday also at the memorial home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac. Mr. Hardesty was born September 30, 1937 in Forrest, IL the son of Harvey and Carrie Ruth Sinnett Hardesty Sr. He married Sandy Oyer on August 25, 1957 in Forrest, IL. She died on August 7, 2011. Survivors include their children, Karen (Keith Chambers) Stephens, Forrest; Rick (Robin) Hardesty, Bloomington; Dan (Lisa) Hardesty, Wildwood, MO; 5 grandchildren, Mark (Ashley) Stephens; Kacie, Alex, Jake & Aubree Hardesty; and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gene and James. Mr. Hardesty was a 1955 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School. He was employed at Diller Tile, Chatsworth retiring after 43 years of service. He had been an assistant coach for the CIFL Mighty Mites for 8 years, was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing. Harvey loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Ruth Leona King, 91, of Piper City, IL., died 9:28 P.M., Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at BroMenn Hospital in Normal, IL. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 27, 2017 at Living Word Church in Roberts, IL., with Pastor Douglas Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Chatsworth Charlotte Township Cemetery in Chatsworth, IL. Her visitation will be from 4 - 7:00 P.M., Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Living Word Church in Roberts with an one hour visitation prior to the funeral service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Fairview Haven Nursing Home, 605 N. 4th Street, Fairbury, IL., 61739 or to the Samaritan's Purse, Box 3000, Boone, North Carolina, 28607. Ruth was born on February 8, 1927 in Fairbury to Joseph and Hermina (Miller) Zimmerman. She married Claude A. King on June 17, 1945 in Pekin, IL. He died on August 22, 1990. Surviving are four children - Judy (Gene) Adams of Arrington, TN., Lisa (Bruce) Fuoss of Chatsworth, IL., Bob (Marie) King and Brian (Lesley) King all of Piper City, IL. Nine grandchildren - Coury, Chanda, Brayden, Braxton, Alisha, Tasha, Seth, Joel and Hannah. Ten great-grandchildren - Ashton, Avery, Ayden, Jayda, Joshua, Nasja, Michael, Layni, Avelyn and Adaley. One brother - Robert (Lucy) Zimmerman of Bloomington. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters - Helen and Pauline and six brothers - Ralph, Gene, Lloyd, Harold, John and Ron Zimmerman. Ruth was a member of the Living Word Church in Roberts, IL. She loved to read her bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. Ruth volunteered over 40 years at the Piper City Rehab and Living Center in Piper City. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, Meme and friend; always thinking of others first. Obit of Charles Bazzell (Husband of Ruth Watson)

Charles is the husband of Ruth Watson:

Charles K. Bazzell, 1932 - 2017 February 8, 2017 Charles “Chuck,” K. Bazzell died peacefully at home on February 8, 2017. He was born on June 30, 1932 in Madison, Kansas, the first child of Clarence and Jean (Loftin) Bazzell. His father worked in the oil fields and Chuck went to many different schools, including a memorable year spent with his grandmother, Martha (Groves) Loftin, in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1944 the family moved to Brownstown, Illinois where he graduated from high school as class president in 1950. He graduated in 1955 with a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana campus. Following college, Chuck served two years as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He had a long, varied and distinguished career applying his considerable skills in the U.S. and abroad including oversight with the Illinois Division of Highways, design, management and eventual ownership of Bazzell-Phillips & Associates in Champaign, Illinois, and Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam, a large mixed use development firm in Dallas, Texas In 1986 Chuck moved to Norfolk, Virginia where he joined Clark Nexsen and where he started the Civil Engineering Department. He was a licensed land surveyor in nine states which led to a memorable assignment in Morocco. He worked for Clark Nexsen and was a board member until he retired. He was a resident of Norfolk for 30 years. Chuck is survived by his spouse Ruth, two sisters; Martha and Nancy Bazzell of Effingham, IL, his two children from his late first wife Barbara (Wilson) Bazzell, Michael (“Peg” Murphy) Bazzell of Chicago, IL and Brenda (Bazzell) Kean of Jackson MO, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He loved adventure and travel, exploring 34 countries during his lifetime. He was an avid reader, on topics of science, philosophy and poetry, however, Quantum Physics was his favorite. Chuck was also a pilot with a commercial instrument rating. Chuck met and fell in love with Ruth Kyburz (Watson) before moving to Texas and their romance led to marriage there on New Year’s Eve in 1985. A chance meeting on a ski trip resulted in 31 happy and devoted years of marriage. Ruth was his constant caregiver and companion during his later years with Alzheimer’s. The family would like to thank all the devoted hospice nurses for their loving care, council and support during his last 1,035 days. Through his union with Ruth he added two step sons to his beloved family; Gregory, of St. Louis, MO and Jeffrey (Kelly) Kyburz, of Bel Air, MD, 9 step grandchildren and 2 great step great grandchildren. Chuck once wrote, “I would like to be remembered as a kind, considerate and open minded person.” Everyone who knew Chuck refers to him as a ‘perfect’ gentlemen, something we can all look up to. Obit of Barbara Lee (Kopp) Kuntz

Barbara Lee Kuntz, 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Price William Hospital in Manassas, Va. Mrs. Kuntz was born in Princeton, Illinois on April 17, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Hazel Kopp. Mrs. Kuntz married her husband, Arlen Kuntz, of Strawn, Illinois on November 12, 1955. After moving to Virginia with her family, Mrs. Kuntz served as a budget analyst in the Pentagon for 15 years. She achieved a US Civil Service rank of GS-13 during her exceptional career. When she retired, she and her husband operated a home improvement and remodeling business in Springfield, Va. 

Survivors include three children, six grandchildren and a great grandson. Also a brother, and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband and two infant twin daughters, Kathleen and Ann Marie Kuntz.

A visitation will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 1:00 pm until the start of the service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Kuntz's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Obit of Bernice Haag

Bernice F. "Bea" Haag, 96, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at Beach Homes, Costa Mesa, Calif. She was born in Mokena on Feb. 17, 1920, to Bernard Hostert and Viola (Lauffer) Hostert. She graduated from Cullom High School and was a long-time Cullom resident. Bernice had a lengthy career as the personnel director at NicholsHomeshield, the "screen factory," in Chatsworth. She traveled extensively throughout her life with her husband, Vernon. She was instrumental in the establishment and funding of the Cullom-Beckman Memorial Library, working with the family to secure sustaining donations. She is survived by her sister, Norma Boyce; a daughter, Janet Robertson (Alastair); sons, Ray (Lynn) and Ron (Marilyn); four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; and many cousins, nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Viola; her husband, Vernon; her brothers, Arthur and Charles "Chuck"; and a sister, Eleanor Reaney. An open house/service will be scheduled at a later date in Cullom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cullom-Beckman Memorial Library, 103 W. Hack St., Cullom, IL 60929; the Cullom United Methodist Church, 103 E. Van Alstyne St., Cullom, IL 60929 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Obit of Leona (Lade) Stow

Leona Louise Stow, 89, of Piper City, IL formerly of Chatsworth, IL passed away at 3:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Piper City Rehab and Living Center. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Chatsworth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chatsworth Sesquicentennial Fund. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth is handling arrangements for the family. Leona was born August 6, 1927 in Martinton, IL a daughter of Randalph and Eva (Dusenberry) Lade. She married Hiram “Stubby) Stow on April 6, 1947. He passed away on October 17, 1982. She is survived by her siblings: Thelma Mason and Donald (Carolyn) Lade both of Chatsworth, Betty White of Sheldon, IL, and Charles Lade of Pontiac, IL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings: Merle Lade, Dorothy Lee, Louise York, and Gerald Lade. Leona worked at Nichols Homeshield for many years until her retirement.

Obit of Mary Alice (Serene) Haag

Mary Alice Haag, 97, of Cullom, passed away at 11 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 28, 2017) at Evenglow Inn in Pontiac. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cullom. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at the church. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom. Memorials may be made to Evenglow Inn in Pontiac or St. John's Lutheran in Cullom. Mary Alice was born June 20, 1919, in Chatsworth, a daughter of Clinton and Minnie (Lighty) Serene. She married Marlin Edward Haag on Feb. 19, 1937, in Cullom. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1989. Surviving are sons, Dewaine "Dewey" (Marie) Haag, of Emington, and David (Marsha) Haag, of Kempton; sister-in-law, Jackie Serene, of Clifton; six grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; and brother, Gerald Serene. Mary Alice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Cullom, WELCA and served as their president for a time. She also served as a leader of the Happy Helper 4-H Club, was a member of the Home Bureau and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, and was an avid Cubs and Bulls fan. She always made time to follow all her grandchildren in their activities. GIBSON CITY — Loretta Bode, 87, of Gibson City, died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at the Heritage Health Nursing Home in Gibson City. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gibson City, followed by a memorial mass at 11 a.m. with Father Thomas Theneth officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City. Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City is assisting the family. Mrs. Bode was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Chatsworth, a daughter of Charles V. and Mary Endres. She married Albert H. Bode on Feb. 3, 1948, in Chatsworth. He died April 25, 1993. Surviving are her children Marjorie (Jerry) Brown of Gibson City, James (Karen) Bode of Gibson City, John (Nancy) Bode of Champaign, Robert (Cheryl) Bode of Gibson City, Ellen (Mark) Coons of Normal, Irene Bode of Rockville, Md., and Wayne (Ann) Bode of Gibson City; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Davis of Chatsworth. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four brothers, two sisters and a greatgranddaughter. Mrs. Bode was a very active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She also volunteered at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home for many years and helped with delivering Meals on Wheels. Memorial tributes may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Heritage Health Nursing Home or the Alzheimer’s’ Association.
