STREATOR — William F. "Bill" Sanford, 80, of Chatsworth, Ill., died Saturday, March 12, at 6:15 p.m. in Chatsworth.



A service of remembrance will be at noon Saturday, March 19, at Elias Funeral Home in Streator. The Rev. Charles Cline of Central Church of Christ will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Elias Funeral Home. A Masonic ritual will be performed at 11:45 a.m. at Elias Funeral Home.



Born Oct. 12, 1930, in Streator, he was the son of Edward and Frances (Winter) Sanford.



He is survived by his sister, Marjorie (Lee) Missel of Streator, many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Loretta Sanford of California.



He was preceded in death by his brother, John Sanford, and a nephew, Tim Missel.



Bill graduated from Streator Township High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a licensed practical nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, working in the emergency room for more than 20 years, and owned and operated B.B.B. Guns and Borebrites for more than 20 years in Chatsworth.



He was a former member of Central Church of Christ in Streator. In 1975, Bill joined the Masons. He served in all capacities including Master Mason, Commander, Illustrious Master, Worthy Patron, Watchman of Shepherd, Knight York Cross Honor, Worthy Matron and appointed DDGM for the 5th Easter District. He was a member of the Streator, Ottawa and Chatsworth lodges.
