Evelyn L. Rebholz, 86, of Piper City, died at 6:35 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 8, 2011) at the Piper City Rehab & Living Center. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home, Piper City, and from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Piper City, where she was a member, until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service. The Revs. Elizabeth Reis and Richard Brunskill will officiate.
Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Piper City Rehab & Living Center, the United Methodist Church, Piper City, St. Peter's Catholic Church, Piper City, or to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Rebholz worked at Sauerbier Drug Store following high school and then for George Cook Monarch Grocery which later became Cooks IGA grocery, working for 30 years. She also worked for Culkin Grocery in Chatsworth for a period of time, as well as working seasonally for Producers Seed Company in Piper City and Polo. She owned a gift and hobby shop in Piper City in the mid and late '50s. She was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Piper City, the daughter of Erwin and Verna Meisenhelder Law. She was a 1943 graduate of Piper City High School. She lived in the Piper City area her entire life except for 2 1/2 years in Polo in the early '50s when her husband, Jerome, was a branch manager of Producers Seed Company-Blackhawk Division. She enjoyed working with people and delivered Meals on Wheels. She did extensive traveling over the years in the United States and Hawaii. Other activities and interests included bowling, boating and golfing, as well as being active in the Circle 8 Square Dance Club for many years. She very much enjoyed sewing and craft work, plus developing and maintaining yearly photo albums of travel, work and activity interests. She also devoted her time to doing activities with her nieces and nephews. She will be missed.
Surviving are her husband, Jerome J. Rebholz, whom she married Feb. 15, 1947, at St. Peter's Parsonage, in Piper City; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Doris Law Smith and Dorothy "Dottie" Law Walle.

After raising her three children, Jayne pursued a career as aphlebotomist for nearly 20 years, before becoming a licensedpractical nurse in 1978.
She worked at St. James Hospital, Asta Care, Piper City NursingHome and two places in Fairbury, Fairview Haven Nursing Home andthe offices of Drs. Langstaff and Mosciski. She retired from thenursing profession in 1995.
She was a woman of great faith, helping to start the PerpetualAdoration Society at St. Mary’s Church, and working tirelessly atGrace Episcopal Church for many years before she became Catholic —along with Bryon and Richard — in 1974. Jesus was the center of herlife and faith.

Craig was born June 9, 1951, in Fairbury, a son of Dayo and Joy Dickman Thompson. He married Alma K. Wilson on Dec. 27, 1970, in Foosland.
He is survived by his wife, Alma; one son, Christopher (Kristi) Thompson of Melvin; two daughters, Cookie (Ryan) Dalton of Springfield, Mo., and Andria (Travis) Downey of Marseilles; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Mackenzie, Haley, Zakkeri, Sasha, Skylar, Alison and Danika; four brothers, Mark (Christine) Thompson of Watseka, Eric (Jane) Thompson of Melvin, Kevin (Sue) Thompson of Port Byron, Shawn (Amy) Thompson of Parish, Fla., one sister, Lisa (Kevin) Krall of Dewey; and his father, Dayo Thompson of Paxton.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and a grandson, Craig.
Craig served in the Marines. He worked for Central Soya, Marseilles Sheet Metal and for Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 1, Local 73 and Local 265 as a certified welder. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed collecting rare steins and belt buckles. He was known for his prized Camaros.

David was born April 16, 1951, in Fairbury, a son of Leo and Mellicent (Blair) Gerdes. He graduated from the Chatsworth High School, Class of 1969.
He is survived by three brothers, Dale Gerdes of Chatsworth, Steve Gerdes of Ironwood, Mich., and Brian Gerdes of Rantoul; one sister, Marlene (Ed) Clampitt of Rantoul; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Diana Kay.
He had served in the Illinois National Guard.
Mr. Gerdes enjoyed reading, the Chicago Cubs and visiting the Amish country with his father.
David was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth and the Chatsworth Alumni Association.
