Obit of James L. "Hoot" Geiger

BEMENT – James L. "Hoot" Geiger, 81, of Bement passed away at 7:47 p.m. Thursday (June 9, 2016) at the Bement Healthcare Center. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Hinds Funeral Home, 348 N. Piatt St., Bement. Following the visitation, military rites will be performed by the Albert Parker American Legion Post 620, Bement. Then we will take Hoot to the Chatsworth Cemetery, Chatsworth, for a 1 p.m. graveside service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Albert Parker American Legion Post 620. Hoot was born on Sept. 5, 1934, in Strawn, a son of William Chris and Hazel Kuntz Geiger. He is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Steve) Million of Livingston, Ill., and Kathryn Huffstettler of Huntsville, Texas. Also surviving are a brother, John Geiger of Fairbury, and a sister, Loraine Edwards in Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gertrude Geiger. Hoot was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from the railroad.
