Obit of Catherine E. (Kemnetz) Flessner


CHATSWORTH — Catherine E. Flessner, 96, of Chatsworth, passed away at 5:31 a.m. Sunday (April 13, 2014) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chatsworth, with Jerry Gentes, minister of pastoral care, officiating. A visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to service at the church. Burial will follow service at Chatsworth Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Catherine was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Germanville Township, a daughter of Joseph and Bertha “Elizabeth” Hornickel Kemnetz. She married Lowell Flessner on March 19, 1944, in Chatsworth. He passed away on February 5, 2002.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marjorie Ann (Richard) Haab, Forrest, and Sue E. Nesnidal, Chatsworth; one son-in-law, Joseph A. Isaia, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Kimberly Horine Goble, JoHannah Isaia and Dan Nesnidal; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Jane L. Isaia.
Catherine and Lowell farmed all their lives. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing and embroidering. She was involved with Home Extension for more than 50 years. She loved her cat, Teena. Catherine was a church organist for more than 50 years at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and helped wherever she could.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be missed.
