Obit of Dr. Charles (Chuck) Edgington


San Diego, Cal. --Dr. Charles (Chuck) Edgington   2/21/33-12/18/2013
Charles was born in Gary, Indiana. He later moved to Crown Point, Indiana, where he graduated from Crown Point High School in 1950.
From 1954 to 1956 he served in the U.S. Army.
In 1954 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Business Education from Eastern Illinois University. He attained his Master's of Education degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1959.
From 1957 to 1965, Chuck taught Physical Education classes and coached football at Chatsworth, Rock Island and Oak Lawn, Illinois high schools. During five of those summers he and his wife, son and daughter traveled to Greeley, Col., where he enrolled in Northern Colorado's Doctorate Program.
He received his PH. D in Physical Education, Health and Sports in 1965 and was hired by Bemidji State University. He became a professor at B.S.U. and held leadership positions Department Chair, Athletic Director and Track Coach. He was also an assistant football coach for many years.
In 1959, after thirty years of memorable years at the university, he retired and he and his wife divided their time between Mesa, AZ and San Diego, CA. They also spent traveled extensively worldwide during this time.
At a later time, a Family Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held in San Diego. Inurnment will be in the Crystal Catherdral  Memorial Gardens in Garden Grove, California.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora Seaman formerly of Mattoon, Illinois, two married children, four grandchildren and two brothers. A special thanks from his family to all the people who enriched his life.
