Update #9 from Chatsworth Illinois Memories


SHIRLEY — Goldie Mae Beehn, 77, Shirley, died at 12:52 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 17, 2010) at Heartland Healthcare, Normal.


Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with Pastor Jonathon Manor officiating. Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, rural McLean. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington.


Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association.


She was born Oct. 11, 1932, at Piper City, daughter of Frederick and Minnie Grosenbach Hornstein. She married Darrell W. Beehn on Nov. 14, 1954, at Chatsworth.


Surviving are her husband, Darrell, Shirley; children, Deb (Stan) Stoller, Shirley; Denise (Les) Spaulding, Heyworth; Doreen (Jeff) Vaughn, Bloomington; and Darrell (Angela) Beehn, Shirley; siblings, Mildred Propes and Lucille Haberkorn, both Chatsworth, and Fred Hornstein, Urbana; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one brother and two sisters.


Goldie was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomington, and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.


Goldie worked at State Farm until she retired in 1995, after 25 years of service.


Goldie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed playing cards. She treasured spending time with her family. We can be consoled that she is now at peace and we will be reunited one day. She will be deeply missed until then.
