Obit of Lois J. (Twiehaus) Seibold

CHAMPAIGN – Lois J. Seibold, 84, of Champaign passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at the Champaign-Urbana Rehab Center in Savoy. She was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Fairbury to Edward Twiehuas and Vera Ehlers Twiehaus. She married Michael Joseph Seibold on March 29, 1952; he preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2015. Lois grew up on a farm south of Piper City and attended schools in Piper City and Roberts. After the accidental death of her father when she was only 7, she and her mother moved to Piper City. Upon graduation from high school, she was ready for the "big city" and moved to Urbana where she began working at Carle Foundation Hospital until a family was started. After a few years at home when her children were young, she went back to work at the University of Illinois and retired in 1996 after 30-plus years of service. In retirement, she volunteered with the Carle Auxiliary. Lois loved to play cards and participated in several bridge groups. She also golfed in the Women's league at Urbana Country Club for several years and bowled for many years in local leagues. Lois' favorite pastime, though, was spending time with her family, attending family sporting events and being a homemaker. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy (Stan) Harper of Ogden; and her son, Michael E. (Jean) Seibold of Savoy. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Michael Harper, Laura (Mitch) Harris and Joseph Seibold; and one great-grandchild. Lois was preceded in death by her father, her mother and her stepfather, Wesley Hawthorne. A private family service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be offered online at www.morganmemorialhome.com. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
