Obit of Leola Mae (Hoppler) Weston


Leola Mae Weston, 78, of Roberts, IL, died at 10:20 A.M. January 19, 2017 at the Gibson Area Hospital Annex Gibson City, IL. Her services will be Monday January 23 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Piper City, IL. with Rev. Elizabeth Reis officiating. Burial will be in the Chatsworth-Charlotte Township Cemetery Chatsworth, IL. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. On Sunday January 22, 2017 at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman, IL, also one hour prior to the services at the church Monday January 23. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Piper City. Leola was born in Fairbury, IL on July 10, 1938 to Harold and Gertrude (Dorsey) Hoppler, Her childhood was spent in rural Roberts. She attended rural schools in the Roberts and Thawville area and she graduated from Roberts High School. She married Robert P. Weston on April 27, 1958 at United Methodist Church in Piper City,IL. He survives. Also surviving are her children – Michael (Tina) Weston of Roberts, Renee (Ron) Decker of Piper City and Michelle Weston of Fort Collins, Colorado. Six grandchildren – Katie (Ryan) Porth, Jan Weston, Leslie (Kendal) Hornstein, Perry Weston, Amanda Decker (Devon) and Brandon Decker. Six great- grandchildren – Lexa, Tessa, Ellie, Brock, AJ and Abby. One sister – Ethelyeen (Fred) Holy of Champaign and a cousin – Marilyn (Al) Heyen of Greenview, IL. Leola was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Piper City and served as the church treasurer for many years. She was a church board member and active with the United Methodist Women. Leola also was a member on the School Board for Ford Central High School. She had worked at Huber’s Clothing Store in Fairbury, was a receptionist and secretary at Producers Seed and a secretary for Custom Farm Service both of Piper City. Leola loved spending time with her family and friends, being on the farm and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, cross-stitch and tending to her flowers. Arrangements by the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman, IL.
