Pekin-Mary L. Hays, 96, of Peking, passed away at 10:10 pm Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Pekin Manor. She was formerly of Creve Coeur.
Born September 18, 1917 in Livingston County to Charles Vincent and Mary Cordelia (Endres) Endres, she married Beauford E. Hays on December 2, 1939 in Chatsworth. He died October 3, 1990 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert L. Hays on February 11, 2010; four brothers and one sister.
Surviving are five son, Donald E. (Martha) Hays of Pekin, Raymond B. Hays of High Springs, Fl., Richard A. Hays of Arlington Heights, Charles (Cheryl) Hays of Pekin and Michael D. (Bonnie) Hays of Peoria; two daughters, Shelia K Hays of Peoria and Elizabeth S. (Joe) Tucker of Farmington; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren and two sisters, Florence Davis of Chatsworth and Loretta Bode of Gibson City.
She was a homemaker and formerly enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, where she was an active volunteer with the school in earlier years.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am Monday, January 6, 2014 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur. Father Scott Potthoff will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the Mass at church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
