Carl Frank Rosenthal, 68, of Chatsworth, formerly of Fairbury, died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at Piper City Rehab and Living Center, Piper City. Cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 21, at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth.
Carl was born Jan. 9, 1947, in Elgin, a son of Carl Augustus and Dorothy Ida (Van Dusen) Rosenthal. He married Carolyn Sue Burns on April 17, 1970, in Elgin. They separated in 1999 and divorced in 2005. Survivors include two children, Mary (Wesley) Mansfield, Odell, and Donna Rosenthal, Rankin; two grandchildren, Elijah Rosenthal, Sumner and Emily Mansfield, Odell; and two greatgrandchildren. His parents; one sister, Doloris Curtis; and one brother, Donald Rosenthal, preceded Carl in death. Carl was a graduate of Crystal Lake High School. During the Vietnam era, Carl served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked at PTC Alliance in Fairbury for 37 years before relocating to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. in 1999. He returned to Illinois in 2007. Carl enjoyed spending time on his computer and chatting with his Farmville friends. Memorials in Carl’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
