Ray V. Schlemmer, 75 of Chatsworth, IL., died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 7:00AM at Piper City Rehab and Living Center, Piper City, IL.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, Chatsworth with Rev. Corinne Blissard officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the Chatsworth American Legion. Memorials in Ray’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Church, Piper City Rehab & Living Center or Chatsworth American Legion. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00PM at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth.
Ray was born on April 2, 1939 in Watseka,IL., a son of Victor and Augusta (Ulitzsch) Schlemmer. Survivors include: one sister: Joy (Kenny) Ashman of Chatsworth, IL.; one niece: Jolea (John) Kalvin of Hampshire, Il; one great niece: Joryn Kalvin and one great nephew: Jack Kalvin. And longtime friend: Ronnie McMillan of Gilman, IL.
Ray was educated in Chatsworth schools. He was a carpenter and farmer and had been employed at Livingston County Housing Authority in Chatsworth. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church-Chatsworth, and Chatsworth American Legion. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved old western movies.
