PIPER CITY — Sally J. Wahls, 77, Piper City, died at 1:16 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2012) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chatsworth, with the Rev. Jerry Gentes officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery, Chatsworth. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth, and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Memorials in Sally’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Sally was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Winchester, a daughter of Sam and Frieda Klotz Danenberger. She married Floyd L. Wahls on Feb. 19, 1955, in Bloomington. He survives in Piper City.
Also surviving are three sons, Steve (Rhonda) Wahls, Loomis, Neb.; Greg (Cathy) Wahls, Piper City; and Glenn Wahls, Gibson City; two daughters, Nancy (Charles) Hay, Gibson City, and Victoria (Jay) Beck, Melvin; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam “Bo” Danenberger, Danvers, and John “Butch”Danenberger, Normal; and one sister, Sue Swartz, Huntsville, Ala.
Sally was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Sally was educated at University High School, Normal. She was a kitchen supervisor at Greenbriar Nursing Home, Piper City, and was a school bus driver for Piper City schools. She enjoyed sewing, bird watching, gardening and camping. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chatsworth.
