Obit of Velma L. (Ford) McCaskey
Velma L. McCaskey, 98, of Pontiac, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at her
home.
Her service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral
Home in Pontiac with Pastor Roger Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery
in Pontiac. Visitation will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral
home in Pontiac. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
Velma was born January 8, 1918 in ¬Chatsworth, IL to Peter Andrew and Emily Isabel
(Galloway) Ford. She married Myron E. McCaskey in August 1948. He passed away June 18,
1985.
She is survived by her three children, E. Allen McCaskey of Pontiac, IL, Myron L. (Frances)
McCaskey of Odell, IL, and David G. (Cindi) McCaskey of Euless, TX; one brother, James Ford of
Des Plaines, IL; one sister, Dorothy Schell of Pontiac, IL; 11 grandchildren, Michelle McCaskey,
Melissa McNeill, Meredith McCaskey, Brian McCaskey, Colleen Giszczak, Patrick McCaskey, Casey
McCaskey, Sean McCaskey, Katrina McCaskey, Kelsi Kliment, and Michael McCaskey; and 17
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myron; two sisters, Gladys Sharp and
Hazel Keith; and one brother, Floyd Ford.
Velma graduated from Melvin High School and was a Cook for Pontiac Elementary Schools for
over 30 years, volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 20 years, and taught Sunday School
for over 50 years. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Pontiac, IL.
