Fairbury, Otis J. “Pops” Hurt, 82, of Fairbury, passed away at 9:30am, Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Piper City
Nursing Home.
His funeral will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.
Pastor Steve Anderson will be officiating. Burial will be in South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
His visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the J. A. Fowell American Legion Post #174, Forrest.
Otis was born February 16, 1933 in Fairbury the son of Otis M. and Nola Ray Hurt. He married Carol J.
Dickman on May 31, 1957. She died January 10, 2002.
Surviving are his daughter, Cindy (John Shilts) Hurt of Fairbury; son, Todd (Kris) Hurt of Saunemin;
grandchildren, Kevin (Sara) Hurt, Veronica and Valerie Hurt; great-grandchildren, Jude, Maxwell and
McKinzie Hurt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Otis is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Otis worked for the City of Fairbury and Forrest Milk Products. He owned and operated Pop’s Bar in Forrest
and worked road construction for the Local Labor Union.
He was a member of the Laborers Union, Roanoke and the J. A. Fowell American Legion Post #174, Forrest.
In his younger days Otis was an avid hunter and fisherman.
