Charles "Chuck" William Kemmer, 66, of Thawville, IL., formerly of Fairbury, IL., died on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 8:24 P.M. at the Heartland Health Care Center in Paxton, IL., following a 2 1/2 year illness. His funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Gilman, IL., with Rev. Rey Treyes officiating. Burial will be held in the Melvin Cemetery, Melvin, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman, IL., with a prayer service at 3:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Fairbury American Legion Speedway or to the Donor's Choice. Chuck was born on May 25, 1949 in Paxton, IL., to Dale and Billie Marie (Phillips) Kemmer. His childhood was spent in Germanville Township. He attended schools in Melvin-Sibley and received a degree from Eastern Illinois University. Chuck was a purchasing manager for Quanex in Chatsworth, IL., for 41 years. He retired in 2013. He married Loretta Flannery Fuoss on July 23, 2011 at Pigeon Forge, TN. She survives. Surviving children are Rob (Shanna) Kemmer of Fairbury, Lisa (Luke) Young of Maryland Heights, MO., and Jennifer (Bo) Smith of Belvidere, IL. Two step-children - Laura (Michael) Finegan of LaHogue, IL., and Bruce (Lisa) Fuoss of Chatsworth. Five grandsons, one granddaughter and four step-grandsons. Two sisters - Mary Howell of Cullom and Patricia (Mark) Stuckey of Piper City. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and a brother - Robert. He was of the Catholic faith. Chuck also was a member of the Knights of Columbus of the Third Degree and an Eastern Illinois University Alumni. Chuck had coached youth sports and enjoyed basketball, golf and dirt track racing.
