CULLOM — Evelyn H. Drendel, 96, of Cullom passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday (March 21, 2015) at Tjardes
Health Care Center of Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cullom. Visitation will
be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Christian burial will follow Mass at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in
Cullom. Memorial contributions may be made to Evenglow Lodge.
Evelyn was born Nov. 17, 1918, in rural Roberts, a daughter of Bernard and Augusta Brown Carney. She
married Louis Drendel on Nov. 24, 1938, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Chatsworth. He passed
away May 17, 1992.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Shifflet Cullom 1960, Fairbury; seven grandchildren; thirteen
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Anita Drendel, Sandwich; and
numerous stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Fred Drendel; one son-in-law, Ronald
Shifflet; two brothers, John and Kenneth Carney; and one stepgrandson, Larry Residori.
Evelyn graduated from Chatsworth High School. She was a homemaker and a true farmer’s wife.
She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Cullom and the Altar and Rosary Society. Evelyn
was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.
