Obit of Dorothy (Fellers) McCarty

Dorothy (Fellers) McCarty, 83, of Forrest, passed away at 3:45 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Tjardes Health Care Center of Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Forrest with a graveside service to follow at Chatsworth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Humane Society. Dorothy was born on January 16, 1932, a daughter of Homer “Boots” and Myrtle (Bryant) Fellers. She is survived by three sisters: Mary Watts of Columbus, OH, Shirley Jones of Bridgeview, IL, and Donna (Toby) Day of Forrest; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Alfred “Boots Jr.” Fellers; and one brother-in-law: Thomas Watts. She worked on the farm for Harry Austman. She was employed at DJ Davies Company for ten years in Dwight. Dorothy also worked for Reiger Coil in Forrest and Fairbury for fifteen years, plus six years during corn season for Growmark FS in Piper City, until her retirement. Dorothy was a Methodist. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and flowers. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.
