From Chatsworth Illinois Memories Carl "Dick" Milstead Forrest – Carl “Dick” Richard Milstead, 86, of Forrest passed away at 8:24am on December 4, 2009 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Colfax. Funeral will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Forrest Township Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Walter-Clemons American Legion Post #613, Chatsworth. Carl was born January 22, 1923 in Chatsworth the son of Carl and Elsie Adams Milstead. He married Mary Louise Blundy on March 24, 1951 in Chatsworth. She passed away June 6, 2003. Surviving are one daughter Karen S. (Andrew) Freehill of Carlinville; two sons, James R. (Becky) Milstead and Thomas J. (Jody) Milstead both of Frankfort, IN; six grandchildren, Suzie (Scott) Haynes, Heather Freehill, Melissa Freehill, Angie (Hans) Vargas, Dustin Milstead and Brandon Freehill; and five great-grandchildren, Trenton, Bryson, Cameron, Madison and Jackson Haynes. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one son. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during WWII in the European Theater. He is a member of the Walter-Clemons American Legion in Chatsworth. Carl worked at Diller Tile Company in Chatsworth for 35 years. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Legion in Chatsworth. |
