Froelich's 60th Anniversary

From the Kanakkee Journal, June, 2018

Gene and Carol Froelich, of Piper City, will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary June 8 with a family dinner followed by a dance open to the public at Ne’s Place in Piper City. They were married June 7, 1958, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Chatsworth. The couple has four children: Dan (Deb) Froelich, of Forrest; Mark (Karen) Froelich, of Piper City; Cathy Froelich, of Monmouth; and Cindy (Joe) Palen, of Forrest. They have also been blessed with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Gene and Carol have been farmers most of their lives and love to dance and travel.

Friday evening June 15th, The 14th Annual Chatsworth alumni cocktail reception at the American Legion hall from 5:00 p.m. until ???? 

Saturday June 16th Please join graduates of Chatsworth High School and their guests on at the annual alumni meeting. 

This year’s honor classes are those ending in (8). Our social hour begins at 3:00 p.m. and will be followed by a short meeting with recognition of the honor classes at 4:00 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres will be available. 

SUNDAY, JUNE 17, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. will be the Davida Dehm’s Bloody Mary brunch honoring Eileen Weller held at Davida’s fabulous home out near the gate to CHS! 

(The home is located right near the entrance to CHS – brick columns , on the left side, 311 S 6th street which is the street that led to the school.)

Bluebird House Raffle

The Historical society is going to sell raffle tickets for this bird house. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.00. And can be bought from any committee member. Obit of Doris A. (Snow) Friedman

Doris A. Friedman, 82, of Pontiac, died at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday (May 30, 2018) at Accolade Healthcare of Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Forrest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt Smith officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday at the church. Memorials in Doris’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, is handling the arrangements. Doris was born March 17, 1936, in Streator, a daughter of Harley and Velma Davisson Snow. She married Charles Friedman on March 25, 1956. Survivors include one son, Brian E. (Sherry) Friedman, Pontiac; one daughter, June E. (James) Yoder, Forrest; two grandchildren, Lindsay R. and Alexander C. Friedman; two brothers, Thomas A. Snow and Ronald L. Snow, both of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Iva Mae Wilfong, Springfield, Mo., and Velda R. Schaffer, Forrest.  Doris was preceded in death by one son, Gregory P. Friedman; two brothers, Richard D. Snow and Donald L. Snow; one sister, Lois Talbot. Doris worked at Record Printing, Walton’s and Original Smith Printing in Bloomington. Obit of Jerry L. Fairley

Jerry L. Fairley, 70, of Pontiac, passed away at 1:18 pm on Friday, May 18, 2018 at OSF St. James - John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac. His funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac, with Rev Tom Goodell officiating. Burial will follow in Avoca Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Walter-Clemons American Legion post 613 in Chatsworth. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Jerry was born in Fairbury, IL on August 7, 1947 a son of Leonard and Mildred (Sharp) Fairley. He married Laurel Rockenbach on August 29, 1981, she survives. Also surviving are two sons: Justin (Mellisa) Fairley of Abilene, Tx, Jason (Melissa) Bundy of Holden, MO; two step sons: David (Dawn) Hanson of Pontiac, IL, Douglas Hanson of Tucson, AZ; one step daughter: Laurie (Richard) Terven of Bloomington; five grandchildren; one sister: Bonnie (Ken) Easton of Roberts, IL; one sister in law: Carol Flessner of Pontiac, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Roger and John Fairley. Jerry served in the US Army during Vietnam, he was a member of Walter-Clemons American Legion post 613 in Chatsworth. He was an avid cub’s fans, enjoyed golfing and fishing, working on antique cars, and riding motorcycles, and was a private pilot. He loved his dog Bernie and loved spending time with his family.
