Wife of Francis R. Albee
Marietta V. Albee, 101, of Gilman, IL;, died on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 5:45 A.M. at Faith Place in Danforth. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Gilman with Pastor Malcolm Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Brenton Cemetery, Piper City, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Gilman. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Gilman or to the Gilman American Legion Auxiliary. Marietta was born on October 24, 1913 in Patoka, IL., to Archibald William and Prudence Eunice (Belcher) Underwood. She graduated from Piper City High School and was their oldest alumnus. Marietta attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She married Francis R. Albee on September 29, 1934 in Milford, IL. He died on February 13, 1999. Marietta is survived by her daughter - Sally Legan of Gilman. Two grandchildren - Greg (Peggy) Legan of Murphysboro, IL., and Susie Legan (Steve Holsapple) of Gilman. Three great-grandchildren - Jack (Cortney) Legan of Equality, IL., Joe Legan of Knoxville, TN., and Katie Legan of Carbondale, IL. First great-greatgrandson - Beau Legan, who arrived July 21, 2015. Goddaughter - Cindy Bargmann Miller. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law - Jack Legan Marietta was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gilman and church Circles. She was a bookkeeper for Albee's Texaco. Marietta was a member of the Gilman American Legion Auxiliary and Woman's Club. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bulls and Illini Basketball.
