Obit of Phyllis (Davis) Daniel

Phyllis Ann Daniel, 66, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Tulsa, OK with her loving family by her side. Phyllis bravely fought cancer for over a year and many would say they couldn’t tell she was sick due to her positive spirit, impeccable style, and abundant energy. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February, 4, 2015, at Strode Funeral Home, 610 S. Duncan, Stillwater, OK. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Phyllis was born Phyllis Davis, July, 7, 1948 in Chatsworth, IL to parents Raymond Davis and Florence Davis. She attended Chatsworth High School then the University of Illinois where she obtained her BA in Education. Phyllis moved to Tulsa in 1996 with her husband Gordon Daniel, her partner of over 20 years. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Gordon Daniel; mother, Florence Davis; son, Matthew Crane; daughter, Suzanne Williams; stepson, Kyle Daniel; stepdaughter, Tasha Garske; and eight grandchildren. Phyllis will be greatly missed by all who knew her and always remembered for her warmth and friendliness to everyone she meets. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ray V. Schlemmer, 75 of Chatsworth, IL., died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 7:00AM at Piper City Rehab and Living Center, Piper City, IL.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, Chatsworth with Rev. Corinne Blissard officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the Chatsworth American Legion. Memorials in Ray’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Church, Piper City Rehab & Living Center or Chatsworth American Legion. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00PM at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth.
Ray was born on April 2, 1939 in Watseka,IL., a son of Victor and Augusta (Ulitzsch) Schlemmer. Survivors include: one sister: Joy (Kenny) Ashman of Chatsworth, IL.; one niece: Jolea (John) Kalvin of Hampshire, Il; one great niece: Joryn Kalvin and one great nephew: Jack Kalvin. And longtime friend: Ronnie McMillan of Gilman, IL.
Ray was educated in Chatsworth schools. He was a carpenter and farmer and had been employed at Livingston County Housing Authority in Chatsworth. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church-Chatsworth, and Chatsworth American Legion. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved old western movies.

CHATSWORTH--Some of our unsung heroes work right here in Chatsworth.

The Baltz Library of Chatsworth has so much to offer because the library board has approved many new activities for the first quarter of the year.

"Now that we have more room and this beautiful building, it is exciting to plan activities and parties for all ages." librarian Karrie Painter recounted. "We are beginning to plan a Valentine's Day party for adults. There will be dinner, games and prizes on Friday Feb. 14, from 6 until 9 pm here at the library."

"The board also approved a community garden to be located on the library grounds. Residents can plant and maintain a tilled area for crops of their choice. Any surplus produce can be sold at the Home Grown Chatsworth Farmers Market or donated to the Livingston County Food Bank. There will also be a children's gardening program complete with instructions for learning how to garden. The children will benefit from seeing how the food we eat grows and literally reaping what they have sown.

The story hour for children of ages kindergarten through second grade continues on Wednesdays from 3:45 to 4:45 pm.

Students from third through seventh grade will begin an introductory book club at the same time in a different room in the near future.

"Circulation has increased dramatically since the opening of the new library last September", librarian Norma Koerner said, "We used to check out about 300 books per month, and we are now up to and exceeding 1,000 books. That is quite an increase in such a short time. We have new books coming in regularly."

The library is not just the books it houses. It encourages everyone to expand their knowledge in every dimension. There are ample computers with Wi-Fi. Videos both for entertainment and instruction are available and an experienced staff will answer questions.

It is hoped that there may be classes offered on computer usage and first aid/CPR, to name a few of the special activities.

Library Director Mary Fisher-Miller and her staff, Norma Koerner, Karrie Painter and Zach Holt are truly the super heroes of the Library. Who knew their super power is reading?

Obit of Carol L. (Forney) Rosenboom

Carol L. Rosenboom, age 80 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015. She was born
September 28, 1934 in Peoria, Illinois to Lee C. and Nellie Hines Forney.
Carol was a member of Westside Baptist Church and Jabez Sunday School class. She enjoyed gardening,
sewing and bird watching.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Rosenboom, sons, Rodney L. Rosenboom (Jennifer), Scott R.
Rosenboom (Kim), sisters, Donna F. Snow, Kay C. George, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2
on the way.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of
WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Jim Mixson and Pastor
Ernest Dew officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature

January 11, 2015 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL. Funeral services will be held at

10:30 am on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Pontiac Bible Church with Pastor Jarrod Bartholomew officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth. Committal and Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Chatsworth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to SELCAS or Pontiac Bible Church. John was born October 4, 1950 in Thawville, IL a son of Gerald and Eunice (Page) Hall. He was married to Luvern Gerdes. She passed away. He then married Cynthia Gilder on June 22, 1990 in Chatsworth, IL. She

survives. He is survived by his children: Bryan Smith of Bloomington, IL, Becky (Justin) Pirlot of

Bloomington, IL, Joy Ready of Mason, IL, Donald Gerdes of Anchorage, AK, and Zoe (Glenn) Pearson of

Lafayette, IN; his grandchildren: Shawn Ready, Mackinzie Everroad, Kaylee Harris, and Haydence and

Johnathen Pirlot; his siblings: Linda Calloway of Knoxville, Roy (Becky) Hall both of Knoxville, TN, Rick (Sue) Hall of Rossville, IN, and David (Teri) Hall of Gilman, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. John worked for Nichol’s Home Shield for forty-two years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, woodworking, and building things. He was a member of Pontiac Bible Church. He was previously a member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. John was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed.
