Roger W. Coventry, 87, Normal and formerly of Chatsworth, died on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Advocate Bromenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Visitation will be held from 9:30–11:30 am, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Wesleyan University Music Department. Mr. Coventry was born December 15, 1930 in Kirksville, IL. He married Suzanne Livingston on June 18, 1955 on the Livingston Family Farm in Chatsworth. She survives in Normal. Also surviving are three daughters, Kari (Dan) Smith of Blue Island, IL, Martha (Dale) Graber of St. Paul, MN, and Elizabeth Miller of Milwaukee, WI; seven grandchildren, Ben Smith, Lena Smith, Amelia (Dan) Graber Jacobs, Rachel Graber, Rosalie Graber, Sam Miller and Eli Miller; one great-grandson, Amos Jacobs; and one sister, Jane (Shawn) Livingston, Lexington, KY. Mr. Coventry received vocal performance degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University and University of Arizona and later became a vocal teacher throughout central Illinois for 20 years. After his retirement, he continued to volunteer his time and talents to bring music to preschoolers as well as to many memory care centers. Music was his passion and his family was the love of his life. He will be missed dearly.
