Obit of Richard Gragert
PONTIAC — Richard Gragert, 72, of Pontiac, died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 24, 2016) at OSF
Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family service will be at a later date. Memorials in
Richard’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home,
Pontiac, is handling the arrangements.
Richard was born Oct. 20, 1943, in Odell, a son of Ben and Ruby McWhorter Gragert. He married
Judith Galloway on June 1, 1985, in Chatsworth. She survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are three
children, Chad Gragert, Odell; Jeremy Donnelly, Bloomington; and Bria (Rocky) Salinas, Pontiac;
five grandchildren, Morgan and Jacob Donnelly; Landon and Taylor Salinas; and Sydney Gragert;
and one brother, Steve Gragert, Pontiac. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one
brother, Mick Gragert.
Richard was educated in Odell schools and was a graduate of Odell High School. He served our
country in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He was employed at the Livingston County
Sheriff’s Department for 26 years. He was director of the 911 call center in Pontiac, and also had
been employed at the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a member of St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Chatsworth.
