Obit of Betty Joan (Phipps) Ahlgren

WASHINGTON - Betty Joan (Phipps) Ahlgren, 87, of Washington passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Chatsworth, Ill., to Roy and Blanche Phipps. Thankful for their caring and loving mom and grandmother are her children, Gary (Julie) Ahlgren and Lynn Powell; and her grandchildren, Jana (Mike) Chambers, Amber Sweet (Mike), Trisha (Josh) Johnson and April Powell. She was dearly loved by her nine great-grandchildren. Her family cherishes all the memories created throughout the years. A memorial service honoring Betty will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Bethany Community Church, 27577 Dutch Lane, Washington. An opportunity to greet the family will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given in her name for an education fund established at Washington State Bank for her grandchildren.
