Obit of Lucille (Perkins) Sterrenberg
CULLOM — Lucille Fern Perkins Sterrenberg, 92, of Lake Placid, Fla., formerly of Cullom, left us to be with
her dear husband Paul on Tuesday (July 28, 2015) at her daughter's home in Lake Placid, Fla.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Cullom, with the Rev. Jane

service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials in her name may be made to the Chatsworth Fire

Lucille was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Forrest, a daughter of Ora James and Anna Marie Weisser Perkins. She
married Paul L. Sterrenberg on July 28, 1943, in Seattle, Wash., while he was serving in the U.S. Navy.
They returned to Illinois and Paul to his farming. Lucille faithfully brought meals to the men in the field and
continued well into her 80s. Paul preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1998.
Survivors include four children, Paula Sterrenberg, Joe (Shari) Sterrenberg, Louie (Joey) Sterrenberg and
Kae (Charles) Heninger; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and three
stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
Lucille attended grade school and graduated from Chatsworth High School, where she had met Paul. The
couple started wintering in Naples, Fla., in 1970-71, and did so each winter until Paul’s passing in 1998.
They also enjoyed camping and traveled much of the United States. They also traveled to Germany,
Switzerland, Holland and Austria. Both loved to dance and never missed the “big bands.” Lucille was an
avid Cubs fan. She was a gracious hostess and she was the happiest when her home was filled with her
family and friends. Lucille loved her church and attended both Chatsworth and Cullom Lutheran churches.
