Obit of John F. Baillie
John F. Baillie, 71, of Piper City, IL., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 3:58
P.M. at his home in Piper City. His funeral service will be on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. at
St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, IL., with Rev. Priscilla Geerdes. Burial will be in the
Chatsworth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, May 3, 2015 at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church
or Piper City Fire Department and First Responders.
John was born on May 31, 1943 in Farmer City, IL., to Eugene and Salena (Becker) Baillie. He
graduated from Roberts Thawville High School. He married Glenda Rosenboom on July 1, 1962
at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. She survives. Survivors include his two daughters
- Johneen (Doug) Davis and Suzanne (Troy) Bargmann. Four grandchildren - Traeger, Russell,
Arrah and Andrew. Also surviving are two brothers - Ralph (Linda) Baillie, Mark (Pam) Baillie and
one sister - Donna Stewart. A brother-in-law - Oleh Karpowycz. Many nieces, nephews and
cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law - Duane
(Peggy) Baillie , a sister - Shirley Karpowycz, and a brother-in-law - James Stewart.
John was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. He and his wife moved to
El Paso, IL., where they owned and operated an 11,000 laying hen operation. John also worked
for 9 years at Caterpillar in East Peoria as a machinist. Following his love for the farm they
moved to Piper City and farmed for 44 years. Also during this time he worked 9 years for his
brother Duane, as a plant manager at Baillie's Manufacturing in Gibson City, IL..
John's family was the most important thing in his life. He also enjoyed farming and camping.
