Stephen B. Powles, 62, of Danforth, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 29, 2012) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, following an extended illness. At his request, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no visitation. A remembrance gathering will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at St. Andrews Pub in Clifton. Memorials may be made for the Physicians Without Borders. Knapp Funeral Home, Clifton, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Powles owned and operated St. Andrews Pub in Clifton and The Highlander in Chatsworth. He was born Dec. 13, 1949, in Kankakee, the son of Eugene and Marcella LeCocq Powles. He belonged to the Clifton Lions Club, the Illinois License Beverage Association, the Illinois Sheriffs Association and the One Hundred Club. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed politics and history. He loved animals, traveling and especially helping others.
Surviving are his wife, the former Linda M. Randall, whom he married Nov. 17, 1973, in Kankakee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
