Obit of Kathleen Mae Schwarz

STRAWN — Kathleen Mae Schwarz, 51, of Strawn, formerly of Chatsworth, passed away at 12:12 p.m. Sunday (April 24, 2016) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Visitation in her honor will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth, followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, Piper City. Memorial contributions may be made to Autism Association or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Children’s Hospital, Peoria.
Kathie was born March 4, 1965, in Elmhurst, a daughter of Keith Price and Judy Carlson. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Dick Katzel. They both survive in Arizona. She married Edward A. Schwarz on Aug. 9, 1986, in Joliet. He survives in Strawn. Also surviving are her children, Michael (Terri) Schwarz, Lexington, S.C.; Nicholas (Catherine Biesbor) Schwarz, Piper City; Brittany (Matt) Kennedy, Fairbury; and Ashley (Josh) Walters, Chatsworth; her mother-in-law, Catherine (late Harry Schwarz) Schwarz, Piper City; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Krista, Chelsea Mae, Addison, Scott, Lucas, Abigail, Gabriel, Austin Anthony “Pooh Bear,” Annabella and Jamie; her siblings, Dawn (Dave) McVey, Bolingbrook, and Keith Katzel, Hanover Park; and one brother-in-law, Jim Angelos, Gibson City. She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Christine Angelos.
Kathie worked for Quanex in Chatsworth for a number of years and went on to work for R.R. Donnelley in Dwight before settling at Selig in Forrest where she worked for the last eight years. She loved her job and everyone there. Kathie and Ed’s motto on life was to help others in any way that they could. Kathy’s last gift was her donation of her body to help 20 people in need through organ donation. It is through this donation that the family can find comfort in her loss knowing that she will live on through her donation. Obit of Gloria H. (Boone) Meister

GIBSON CITY— Gloria H. Meister, 94, of Gibson City, formerly of Chatsworth and Piper City, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Friday (April 22, 2016) at Heritage Health, Gibson City. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gibson City Bible Church, Gibson City, with Pastor Paul Thomason officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gibson City Bible Church. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gibson City Bible Church or St. Amant Baptist Church. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth, is handling arrangements for the family.
Gloria was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Utica, N.Y., a daughter of Harry V. and Susie Lenfest Boone. She married the Rev. Melvin J. Meister on Aug. 22, 1940, in Chicago. He passed away Feb. 22, 2004. She is survived by three daughters, Melody J. (Dell) Sackett and Coralyn G. (Ace) Webster, both of Camdenton, Mo., and Susie G. (Art) Kinzinger, Gibson City; two sons, Melvin J. (Linda) Meister Jr., St. Amant, La., and John D. (Jennifer) Meister, San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Sharon (Lial) Zeedyk, Larry (Becky) Meister, Becky (Chuck) Smith, Steve (Lisa) Meister, Michael Sackett, Noah (Chris) Meister, Jeremy (Paula) Meister, Jonathan Meister, Stacy Webster, Joe (Holly) Webster, Jennifer (Chad) Casey, Robert (Jessica) Kinzinger and William (Kara) Kinzinger. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters; and one grandson, Luke Kinzinger. She served alongside her husband in ministry for more than 50 years. She counseled with people, regularly visited, and generously assisted those who were lonely, ill, elderly or in need. She loved the Lord Jesus, reading the Bible, singing, and sharing her faith with others. All who knew her well considered her a prayer warrior. She also loved cooking, sewing and painting. Obit of William Stoddard Livingston


William Stoddard Livingston, 88, Chatsworth, died at 1:14 pm Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, Chatsworth with Wayne Kurth officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the Chatsworth American Legion. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, April 15, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 2:00 to 2:45 pm Saturday at the church. The family suggest memorials be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation or the American Heart Association. 
Mr. Livingston was born July 31, 1927 in Normal, IL the son of Frank Leland and Martha Wilcox Stoddard Livingston. He married Nellie May Weaver Curtis on May 26, 1954 in Chatsworth, IL. She preceded him in death on May 16, 1997. Survivors include his children, Kathryn Ann (Bill) Bliss, Wentzville, MO; Robert Dale Livingston, Chatsworth; Thomas William Livingston, Collierville, TN; Leland Mark (Nancee) Livingston, Chatsworth; ten grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, one sister, Suzanne (Roger) Coventry, Chatsworth; one sister-in-law, Jane Livingston, Bloomington. He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Megan Propes and one brother, Frank Leland Livingston Jr. 
Mr. Livingston was a Chatsworth Twp. High School graduate and a 1949 graduate of the University of Illinois, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture. He served in the United States Army from November 15, 1950 to November 6, 1956. After his service to our country he engaged in many agricultural ventures. His entrepreneurial spirit guided him towards land stewardship and conservation. Over many years he acquired agricultural holdings that created a living legacy for his children. The family airstrip also known as Livingston Air Service was also part of William’s legacy. Family members all shared in that experience. William enjoyed flying airplanes and had a fondness for his Cessna 180. With his family, Mr. Livingston owned and operated Livingston Grain and Lumber Company, Chatsworth for over 50 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chatsworth and served on the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois board of directors (1988-1994). He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed traveling with his wife, Nellie and attending family gatherings. “Brutus, don’t worry we will walk you”. Obit of Pamela (Ehrich) Willis


Pamela Willis, 67, of Chatsworth, IL passed away at 6:55 am on Monday, April 11, 2016 at her son’s home in Chatsworth. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth, IL. According to the family’s wishes, cremation rites will follow services. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Pamela was born December 10, 1948 in Kankakee, IL a daughter of Wayne and Rosetta (Cote) Ehrich, Sr. She is survived by two sons: Robert (Tamara) Karnes and Corey Karnes; one step-daughter: Tina; her grandchildren: Melissa (John), Becky, Joey, Jaccob, Jeremy, Jesse, Jazmen, Josilynn, Eric, Kelly, Alyssa, David and Johnathan; great grandchildren: Lauren, Kaleb, Alaina, Khloe, Atticus, Peyton, and Jayson; one sister: Sandra; nieces and nephews: Melody, Deanna, Trish, and Tracy; great nieces and nephews: Brady, George and Penny. Pam was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Tammy; son: Billy; husband: Jim Willis; grandchildren: Michael and Matt; brother: Wayne (Debbie); brother-in-law: Tom; and nieces: Crystal and Dawn. Pam worked at Homeshield for 27 years as a machine operator. She loved to shop, be outdoors, and spend time with her kids and grandkids. Pam had a huge heart and would do anything for anybody. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Karen was born March 29, 1945 in Chicago, IL a daughter of Frank and Harriett Szezpaniak. She married Richard Kubiak on March 17, 1972 in Chicago, IL. He survives. Also surviving two daughters: Donna Miller and Gina (Chuck) Iglinski; two sons: Frank Miller and Richard (Robyn) Kubiak, Jr.; grandchildren: Mario (Shana) Melendez, Chris (Amber) Miller, David (Brittany) Melendez, Rudy (Amanda) Cabral, Eric Cabral, Danny Kubiak, Walter Kubiak, and Nicole (Chris) Cabral; and great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Noelani, Neven, Anthony, Carter, Liam, Alex, Issacc, Jacob, Keegan, Kazlyn, and Kailya.

LaVerne E. Wold Chenoa- LaVerne E. Wold, 82, of Chenoa, formerly of Chatsworth, IL, passed away at 1:14 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Chenoa, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth. According to her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community. LaVerne was born February 12, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of John and Peggy Ann (Jensen) Drozd. She married Donald Robert Wold on February 20, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. They were married for nearly fifty years, Donald passed away in June of 2003. She is survived by her children: Donna (Randy) Burke of Chatsworth, IL, Vernon (Connie) Wold of Naperville, IL, Kevin Wold of Arlington, TX, and Jeffrey (Sally) Wold of Channahon, IL; ten grandchildren; Fourteen great grandchildren; and one sister: Barbara Sypien of Momence, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John and Lawrence Drozd; her husband; and one granddaughter: Dawn Baertschi. LaVerne worked for Jewel foods for thirty years starting in Romeoville and retiring from the Plainfield location. Upon retirement, she moved to Arkansas and returning ten years ago to be closer to family in Chatsworth. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and gardening. She was a loving mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Obit of Veronica M. Flynn

Veronica M. Flynn, 90, of Flanagan, formerly of Cullom, passed away at 8:28 am, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at OSF St. James -John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac, IL. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cullom, with Rev. William Keebler officiating. Memorials to be given as masses. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Cullom. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Cullom is Handling the arrangements.
Veronica was born in Chatsworth, Illinois on November 15, 1925 a daughter of James and Veronica (Hallum) Flynn. She is survived by two sisters: Evelyn (Tom) Ford of Cullom and Francena Sleconich of Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brothers: Francis, Leo, Vince and Ambrose, and one sister Agnes.

Dean L. Nussbaum Born: December 21, 1923 Died: April 01, 2016 Dean L. Nussbaum, 92, of Fairbury and formerly of Chatsworth, went to be with his Lord at 3:10 am Friday, April 1, 2016, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest, where he was a member for 70 years, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the North Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Forrest. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dean’s name may be made to the Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury, or the Apostolic Christian Harvest Call, P.O. Box 3797, West Lafayette, IN 47996.
Dean was born December 21, 1923, in Forrest, IL, a son of Ira and Leona Abersol Nussbaum. He married Betty L. Metz on January 12, 1946, in Pontiac, IL. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2013. He is survived by his children, Terry (Deborah) Nussbaum, Fairbury; Luann (Jerold) Endress, Dunlap; Jay (M. Ann) Nussbaum, Bloomington; and Elaine (Lynn) Stoller, Gridley; fourteen grandchildren, Joseph Livingston, Abby (Dan) Eisenman, Lucas (Raya) Nussbaum, Tessa (Ben) Herr, Clint (Stefanie) Endress, Troy (Lindsay) Endress, Brett (Cassie) Endress, Ty (Erin) Endress, Will (Alexis) Nussbaum, Casey (Tyler) Zimmerman, Candice (Michael) Dohman, Holly (Will) Kellenberger, Natalie (Tommy) Hoerr, and Wendy (Josh) Schick; 39 greatgrandchildren, and four sisters, Leona, Janice and Carol Nussbaum, Fairbury; and Doris Huber, Bloomington. He is preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Nussbaum, five brothers, Alden, Willis, Wayne, Byron, and Glen Nussbaum.
Dean had a great love for his Lord, his church, and his children and grandchildren. His hobbies included woodworking and spending time at his pond. He owned and operated Nussbaum Chevrolet and Oldsmobile, Chatsworth, and farmed in the Livingston County area for many years. His family appreciated the example he set and his optimistic outlook on life
